Tego has mild wobblers, which is the reason he retired from a show career as a jumper. It is only noticeable if you ask him to turn in a very tight spot, he will stumble, or if he panics, he sometimes loses his footing. He has flat feet, so does require shoeing if he's going to be ridden on hard ground.
Well broke at all gaits, rides English and Western. Should NOT be jumped due to wobblers. He is not for a beginner rider, as he does have lots of get up and go, but is not crazy, just forward. Responds very well to leg.
Gets along well in a herd, tends to be dominant if in with only mares, but if in a mixed herd, he'll settle into the middle of the pecking order. Does not enjoy being left alone in the barn or the field, but rides fine by himself, in the ring or on the trails.
Has been used as a pleasure horse for the past 2 years, hacks wonderfully in the lead or in the lineup. Very brave on trails, crosses water, cuts a path, whatever is needed. Is a big sucky, loves to be groomed and fussed over. Lives outdoors 24/7 with blankets and shelter, but doesn't mind coming into a stall at night if necessary. Easy keeper, currently receives MSM to aid in movement, biotin for healthy hooves (as his tend to be soft if not supplemented, he has had abcesses in the past), flax, Blacks vitamins, and a cup of hi-fat hi-fibre, all only once a day. Tego clips, bathes, ties, and trailers. He does need some confidence with the blacksmith, as he panics at times, and is difficult to calm back down. He is barefoot currently, due to lack of time for riding.
Tego has gorgeous movement, and would suit someone looking for a handsome boy with a few quirks to add as their pleasure and hacking horse.
