Personality: Friendly. Easy to lead, groom, tie, trim, trailer, etc. Good with other horses, ponies and donkeys.
History/Training: Skye was destined for slaughter a few years ago, but a kind lady took her in and took care of her. Sadly this spring she found she did not have the time or the experience to deal with her and that is how she came to HCW. Halter Broke. Skye did nothing but sit in a field prior to coming to HCW. She is not yet broke to ride. Sadly I recently paid someone to break/train her 60 days back in Sept/Oct but they never did so I am out the money and Skye is still unbroke. UPDATE: My volunteers have sat on Skye 3 times this year so far, once in April, once in May and once in June. She is by no means broke, they sat on her, thats it. She will need an experienced person to finish her breaking/training. Unfortunately my volunteers are only here once a month.
Future/Suitability: OCTOBER UPDATE: SKYE HAS BEEN AWAY FOR TRAINING FOR THE PAST 4 WEEKS AND THE TRAINER FEELS SKYE IS NOT SAFE TO RIDE (SHE LIKES TO BUCK) AND SHE RECOMMENDS WE ADOPT SKYE OUT AS A COMPANION/PET OR BROODMARE! NOVEMBER UPDATE: WE HAVE DISCOVERED SKYE HAS A SORE BACK. SO WE ARE HOPEFUL THAT WITH PROPER TREATMENT SHE MAY BE ABLE TO BE A RIDING HORSE AFTER ALL!!

Donations are welcome .... $$, Hay, Feed, Supplements, Feed Store Gift Cards, Saddles, Tack, Riding, Apparel, Blankets (in good usable/sellable condition). We no longer accept cheques due to all of the NSF cheques we have received in the past. We accept email money transfers or cash. We have well over $4000+ invested into Skye during her stay here with us, with her trailering, hay, feed, supplements, deworming, vet, farrier, training, etc, so we understand we will be taking a loss, and we are used to that, but we do need to get something for her, as we cannot help more horses, ponies and donkeys until we find good homes for the ones that are here. The adoption fees are very important in keeping HCW running. Skye needs and deserves a good permanent loving home. She has been patiently waiting since April 2011.
