Health: UTD on Vaccinations, Deworming & Farrier. He is currently underweight, but we are working on that. He did choke on his grain once (pellets) so we had the vet out and she couldn't find anything wrong, other than the obvious choking, we felt it likely occurred because he was wolfing his grain down to get back out to his ladies. So we have stuck a salt block in the middle of his feed bin to help slow down his eating. If he was an easier keeper we would just cut out his grain, to make sure he does not choke again, but he needs it.
Lameness: None
Vices: None
Personality: Very Sweet. Easy to Catch, Lead, Groom, Trim, Trailer, etc. Great with Other Horses, Ponies and Donkeys. An All Around Sweet Horse to Handle and to Ride UNTIL ..... the mares came in to heat, and then he turned into a complete ding dong
History/Training: English/Western, Show/Pleasure. Great on Trails (he goes up and down steep hills, across bridges, steps over large obstacles, he will lead or follow, and is very responsive).
Future/Suitability: English or Western, Pleasure Riding, Trails
Additional Info: RED NEEDS TO BE KEPT WITH JUST GELDINGS, AT LEAST DURING THE SPRING AND SUMMER MONTHS BECAUSE AS SOON AS THE MARES STARTED COMING INTO HEAT, RED STARTED BEHAVING LIKE A DIFFERENT HORSE, NOT THE NICE QUIET RELAXED HORSE WE CAME TO KNOW. HE IS NOW VERY STRESSED OUT AND ALL HE CARES ABOUT ARE HIS MARES. HE HAS LOST ALL THE WEIGHT WE PUT ON HIM, AND MORE. WE HAVE TRIED TO SEPARATE HIM BUT HE JUST PACES THE FENCE AND DOESN'T EAT. SO HE WOULD BE BEST TO BE AT A HOME WHERE THERE IS JUST GELDINGS. Red does not like being clipped around his ears. He loves baths. He also loves being outside when weather permits. Great for the vet & Blacksmith.
