Prince

Barn Name: Prince
Breed: Hackney/Paint X
Height: 13.1hh
Age: 9 y/o
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Bay/White Pinto

Health: Excellent. No Known Health Issues.
Lameness: None. No Known Soundness Issues.

Most Recent Farrier: Jan 27, 2017

Vices: Hard to Catch in Big Field, Will Bolt in Hand (Previous Owner Suggested a Chain Leadshank and it Worked)
Personality: Friendly, Easy to Catch When He is Handled Regularily and Knows the Routine, Not the Kind of Pony You Can Pull Out of the Field Once Every Blue Moon and Expect Him to Behave. He Does Best When Handled on a Daily Basis.

History/Training: See Below
Future/Suitability: Would be Best if He Was Started Over From Scratch to Teach Him That Bolting in Hand is NOT a Good Thing and That Being Caught IS a Good Thing! He Has A lot of Potential As He Is Sound, Healthy, Attractive, Young ... But He Needs Someone Who Will Spend Time With Him, Someone With Experience and Patience. This is NOT a Beginner Pony. I Think He Would Make a Great Jumper Pony with the Right Rider as He is Very Athletic and Loves to Jump.

Additional Info: HERE IS THE INFO PROVIDED TO US BY PREVIOUS OWNERS ..... "Please read entire ad... Serious inquiries only please. "Prince" is about 9 years old and is a Hackney x Paint gelding standing about 13.1hh. He is very much loved but my daughter has outgrown him and has a new horse so looking to rehome him. Here is his story.... Prince was very green broke when we bought him 3 years ago. My daughter worked with him and a coach for a while and he did show improvement with consistent work. He loves to trail ride alone or in a group and is amazing on the road with traffic, likes swimming so water is not an issue and is good around dogs. With that said he loves to do the trails much better than ring work and will jump logs along the trail. He is NOT a beginner pony I would recommend if he is going to be a riding pony he be in intermediate or experienced hands. He is a very pretty boy and has lovely movement with the Hackney in him. I have never had him hooked up to a cart but I'm sure he would do well. He does tend to act like a typical pony using his pony brain...he is high in the pecking order, is good for the vet and farrier. He will only trailer with a buddy not alone. He does have an issue with bolting while in hand which is something we have been working on. If you are still reading I want you to know I'm being completely honest about our "Prince" as like I said he is very much loved despite his quirks".

Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: Donation to HCW. The Donations can be $$, Hay, Feed, Supplements, Feed Store Gift Cards, Saddles, English Tack, Western Tack, Riding Apparel, Blankets, etc (in good usable/sellable condition).

We would also gratefully accept volunteer chiropractors, massage therapists, vets, dentists, farriers, etc. Please Email us if you are interested in helping out in some way! Thanks!

We no longer accept cheques due to all of the NSF cheques we have received in the past. We accept email money transfers or cash. We know we will never recoup what we will invest into Prince, so we understand we will be taking a loss, and we are used to that, but we do need to get something for her, as we cannot help more horses, ponies and donkeys until we find good homes for the ones that are here. The adoption fees are very important in keeping HCW running. Prince needs and deserves a good permanent loving home.

Current Status: Located at HCW in Cameron, ON. Available for Adoption/Sale or Fostering/Lease (Until Adopted). If you have any questions about Prince and/or would like to make arrangements to see her, please email Claire at HCWEquineRescue@sympatico.ca

If You Would Like a Trailering Quote Please Call Josh at 905-242-7229 or Email at: horsepowertransport@hotmail.com Please Supply Him With Your City/Town Name and Postal Code, So That He Can Give You An Accurate Quote.
