Lameness: Jet has slightly long pasterns which may cause problems if used for jumping. He also surface cracks on hooves from insufficient feeding as a youngster, which may or may not ever grow out. His farrier care must be kept regular.
Vices: None
Personality: Gentle Giant. Jet has a personality of a draft horse being very easy going. He is attentive and alert to new things and always more than willing to move forward and learn. At times he can be uncertain and unsure of new surroundings but settles in quickly. He is not sluggish.
History/Training: We have owned Jet since he was two. He had been harness broke prior to us owning him but would need to be restarted under harness. He is a wonderful happy and healthy horse who stays outside 24/7 unless terrible weather. Currently turned out in a mixed herd of mares and geldings. Jet has been shown in schooling shows – Hunter and Dressage. He does hack out however sometimes can be spooky and has bucked and bolted on occasion. He is excellent in the show ring and moves beautifully. He would suitable for pleasure or for low level dressage, would not recommend for more than occasional jumping as he has longer pasterns. He moves well off of leg aids, started on sidepass; turn on forehand and leg yielding. Rides in a snaffle bit.
Future/Suitability: Needs an intermediate to experienced rider due to his size and occasional bucking and bolting. As he is not ridden regularly he would need refresher for hacking out. He is a breathtaking horse with HUGE movement.
Additional Info: UTD on vaccinations, worming and Farrier. I am a western rider and do not have time to ride Jet. He is also too tall for me to get on from the ground for trail riding!!!
