Ginger

Barn Name: Ginger

Breed: Pony
Height: Stout 12.3hh
Age: 5 y/o
Gender: Mare
Colour: Chestnut with Salt/Pepper Mane & Tail

Health: Excellent

Lameness: None - Sound

Vices: None

Personality: Friendly, Easy to Catch, Lead, Tie, Groom, Trim, Trailer, etc. Currently turned out with other horses, ponies and donkeys, all mares. Defintely a boss mare.

History/Training: Unknown, Purchased from an Auction, All they said was broke to ride. We did hop on her once and she has definitely been ridden before, we will update you as soon as we have ridden her again. FEB 14 UPDATE: We have discovered she appears to be leadline broke only. She is great to ride at the walk and trot if someone is leading her but as soon as you undo the lead she walks back over to the gate and just stands there and won't budge. She may have been a trail pony where they just follow the leader. We will continue training her under saddle until she is adopted. MARCH 14 UPDATE: We trailered Ginger over to the local arena today and it took a bit to get her going but by the end of the session she was walking and trotting well with a rider (and no one leading her) but just at the very end of the good session we had with her she decided she would kick melody (who is her best bud). She has done this on more than one occasion but usually she does it towards strange horses that she doesn't know. She is a very pushy mare and tried to dominate people and seeing her kick out at Melody (while the girls were still on Melody and Ginger) it has made me realize she will not be safe around kids, at least not know, perhaps in the future once she has had some natural horsemanship done with her. Her attitude is likely the reason she was put through the auction. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I feel it is best to be honest with you, as I would not trust her around my daughter, so I would not want you to trust her around your children. With all that being said she does seem to be VERY sweet with people and kids, the only time she has attitude is around horses. She may very well make a nice kids pony for at home if you don't have other horses or ponies. As much as I would hate to see her alone I would also hate to see someone get hurt. She loves to be groomed and is easy to tack up. She just can't be trusted when there are other horses around as she may try to kick at them and kick you by mistake. Anyways sorry for rambling. I know I am too honest for my own good LOL. If you do parelli and want to volunteer some time with her in our round pen we would love to hear from you.

Future/Suitability: Companion, Pet, Leadline, Trail Riding with Other Horses/Ponies .... and With further training I am sure she would make a great riding or driving pony, for show or pleasure

Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: Currently accepting offers. So in short, Ginger will be adopted to the best suited home, with the best approved application and the best offer!! We accept email money transfers or cash. We no longer accept cheques due to all the NSF cheques we have received in the past. We cannot help more horses, ponies and donkeys until we find good homes for the ones that are here. The adoption fees are very important in keeping HCW running. This pony needs and deserves a good permanent loving home. She has been patiently waiting since Nov '09 and not one potential new home has come to see her yet during this time.

Current Status: Located at HCW in Cameron, ON - Available for Adoption/Sale or Fostering/Free Lease (Until Adopted). If you have any questions about Ginger and/or would like to make arrangements to see her, please email Claire at HCWEquineRescue@sympatico.ca
