Chuck

Barn Name: Chuck

Breed: Standardbred
Reg'd Name: Chuck N Ken
Freeze Brand#: RH368
DOB: June 2, 1996 in Vienna, ON
Sire: Big Towner, by Gene Abbe
Dam: Progammed, by Bret Hanover

Height: 15hh
Age: 14 y/o
Gender: Gelding
Colour: Bay

Health: needs more than just hay (ie. purina high fat high fibre pellets)

Lameness: See bottom photo of rear ankles, slightly arthritic due to years of racing, currently on daily msm/glucosamine supplement

Vices: None

Personality: Friendly, Easy to Catch, Lead, Groom, Tie, Trim, Trailer, etc. Currently turned out with just geldings - horses, ponies & donkeys. Loves ponies. UPDATE: Apparently he acts studdish in a mixed herd. So best to be turned out with just geldings.

History/Training: Retired Harness Racing Horse, Started Under Saddle. He trots and canters when out in the field with his friends, but he still paces when under saddle. He enjoys being ridden. We took him out for a trail ride the other day and he loved it, he was amazing, nothing spooked him, he was great on the trail and on the road!!

Future/Suitability: Light Pleasure Driving and Trail Riding. Not for Racing or Ring Work.

Additional Info: Chuck can be turned out 24/7 or in a stall at night, he is not fussy. But he does need a blankie in the winter if he is out 24/7. He is currently on free choice hay 24/7, as well as purina high fat high fibre pellets, vit/min supplement, and glucosamine/msm supplement twice a day.

Adoption Fee/Purchase Price: Was: $1000 obo - Now: MAKE AN OFFER - All Offers/Trades/Donations in exchange for his adoption fee will be "considered". We accept email money transfers or cash. We no longer accept cheques due to all of the NSF cheques we have received in the past. We have more than $1200+ invested into Chuck with his hay, feed, supplements, deworming, farrier, etc. We will never recoup what we have into Chuck so we understand we will be taking a huge loss, and we are used to that, but we do need to get something for him, as we cannot help more horses, ponies and donkeys until we find good homes for the ones that are here. The adoption fees are very important in keeping HCW running. Chuck needs and deserves a good permanent loving home. He has been patiently waiting since Sept '09.

Current Status: Located at HCW in Cameron, ON - Available for Adoption/Sale or Fostering/Free Lease (Until Adopted). If you have any questions about Chuck and/or would like to make arrangements to see him, please email Claire at HCWEquineRescue@sympatico.ca

SPONSORS NEEDED!!!: If you would like to help Chuck, but are not able to Adopt or Foster him at this time perhaps you would be interested in Sponsoring him by helping to cover the costs of (or a portion of) his daily care - such as his Hay, Purina High Fat High Fibre Pellets, Glucosame/MSM Supplement, Vaccinations, Teeth Floating, Farrier, Deworming, Blue Salt Block, Treats, Halter, 74" Fall Turnout Sheet, 74" Winter Turnout Blanket, Fly Mask, Fly Spray, Brushes, Lead Rope, etc. If you would like to help in any way, please email Claire at HCW for details.
